A Nantucket woman was killed when she was struck by a car as she ran on a road Sunday.

Police Lt. Jerry Adams said Monday that 58-year-old Robin Harvey was hit just before 4:30 p.m. on Milestone Road near the intersection of Polpis Road. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Adams said the driver, 23-year-old Galin L. Yotsev, was ordered held on $35,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty Monday to charges including motor-vehicle homicide/negligent operation and reckless operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Harvey was co-owner of the SeaGrille restaurant and a school committee member.

The Nantucket Inquirer and Mirror reported Harvey took up running after she was seriously injured when a pickup truck struck her bicycle in 2012 and had run last year's Boston Marathon.
