Murder Suspect Arraigned in New Bedford

A New Bedford youth has been charged with murder.

17-year-old Andre Gage is being charged as an adult in the stabbing death of 21-year-old Raymond Sanchez, who was murdered outside a Westlawn Housing Development apartment on Liberty Street on October 9th.

Assistant District Attorney Daniel Hourihan alleges the victim had robbed Gage months before, and Gage happened to be driving by the apartment when Sanchez was outside.

Prosecutors say the two men engaged in a fight, resulting in Gage stabbing Sanchez once, puncturing his heart. Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gage allegedly admitted to a friend he had stabbed Sanchez.

He was held without bail until his next court appearance on November 25th.
