Halloween is still six weeks away, but for many who plan to dress up this year the planning has already begun.

Nearly half of the people responding to Savers "Halloween Shopping Survey" believe the best inspiration for costumes comes from movies and television.

"The Walking Dead" and "Duck Dynasty" are among the most influential TV shows this year. Big screen influences include the superhero films "The Wolverine," "Iron Man," and "Superman" and animated movies "Monsters University" and "Despicable Me."

Social media is playing a role as well. Just under 50% say they look at Halloween photos people have posted on Facebook and Pinterest to glean ideas for their own costumes.
