Most Furloughed Defense Workers Return to Work in Rhode Island
Most of the civilian military employees in Rhode Island furloughed by the government shutdown, have been called back to work. Employees at Naval Station Newport were notified on Sunday to return yesterday. The majority of furloughed National Guard personnel have also been called back to work.
Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel recalled tens-of-thousands of civilian defense employees nationwide over the weekend.
