Massachusetts investigators have received the results of another round of scientific testing that may help them identify the young girl whose remains were found in a trash bag on the shore of Boston Harbor.

State police say the tests compare residual oxygen isotopes in human hair and teeth with known levels in drinking water and could help them pinpoint where the girl lived.

Preliminary results suggest the child may have spent time in New England and other locations across the U.S., but so far police have not been able to draw any specific conclusions.

The girl was named Baby Doe by investigators and is estimated to be 4 years old. Her body was found on Deer Island on June 25 by a woman walking a dog. (Associated Press)
