The forum on the proposed waterfront casino in New Bedford is only days away and a group called Vote Yes New Bedford has begun a media campaign urging residents to vote in favor of the casino.

However, the group filed their paperwork on Thursday, so close to the election date that the committee’s first financial report won't be available until after the election.

State Senator Mark Montigny says that there are many complex issues involving the establishment of a casino and says that a failure to demonstrate full transparency is bad for the process.

"One thing that needs to be assured from the beginning is full transparency and integrity of the process," says Montigny "starting off with a late filing and a vote in New Bedford without full information on the funders and the financing of a ballot question is not starting off in good form."

Montigny says he wants both sides of the casino issue to display the same level of transparency when it comes to transparency in funding.

KG Urban Managing Director Andrew Stern says Montigny simply hasn't been a part of the bidding process.

"Nice to see that Senator Montigny still lives in Massachusetts and still represents the district, because we haven't heard from him in several years," says Stern "I have absolutely no idea what he's talking about."

Stern says KG Urban has been paying for their campaign, along with all additional costs throughout the bidding process, with their own money.
