Governor Baker is directing more than $200 million for transportation projects in Southeastern Massachusetts over the next five years, and State Senator Mark Montigny couldn't be more pleased.

The New Bedford Democrat admits though, he was getting anxious while waiting for the Governor to unveil the plan.

"This administration has taken a long time to review each request, and i'm sure they've knocked out a lot of projects that others I'm sure wanted. I'm just very pleased that the Governor sees districts like mine in need of a shot in the arm," said Montigny.

The plan includes $148 million for Southcoast Rail, while the New Bedford Airport will receive nearly $19 million for infrastucture improvements.

Funds will also be going to Acushnet, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, and Mattapoisett for bridge replacement, maintenance work and storm water improvements.
