t's election day Monday for a handful of local communities

In Acushnet, retiree Garry Rawcliffe, a former member of the Board of Public Works, and Paul Levasseaur, a construction worker, are looking to fill a vacancy on the Board of Selectmen. Current Selectman Leslie Dakin had previously announced he would not seek a third term in office.

In Fairhaven, voters will decide the fate of contested races for Board of Selectmen and Board of Health. In the Selectmen's race, incumbent Charlie Murphy is being challenged by Board of Public Works member Steven Riley. Pro turbine incumbent Jeannine Lopes is being challeged by Louise Barteau, a member of the turbine opposition group Windwise for a seat on the Board of Health.

Freetown voters have a relatively quiet ballot with the only contested race for Water and Sewer Commissioner. Planning Board member Mark Rogers is facing Finance Committee member Brad Paiva. The only other contested race is the three year Lakeville seat on the Freetown Lakeville Regional School Committee. Incumbent Carolyn Gomes is being challenged by Steven Owen.

Finally in Lakeville, voters will decide five contested races, including a spot on the Board of Selectmen.

Polls in Acushnet and Fairhaven open at 10am while polls in Freetown and Lakeville open at noontime. All polls close at 8pm.
