"Distractology 101" is being taught this week in a mobile classroom at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School.

Voc-Tech students are taking turns on a computer simulator where they're allowed to text while driving and they quickly learn the consequences.

Junior Eliana Sousa took a spin on the simulator on Tuesday. "it teaches you that no matter what your doing, whatever distraction it is, it can get you into something very serious," said Sousa. "I almost hit a motorcycle person after he blew through a stop sign and it shows you that you must keep your guard up even when its your right of way."

The mobile classroom was created by the Arbella Insurance Foundation and was brought to the campus by Alexion-Pereira Insurance of Fairhaven.

A-P's Kevin Dyer says " it's nice to see the insurance company give back to the community, and if this simulator saves one life or opens the eyes of one kid, its well worth the investment Arbella has put into it. "

Voc-Tech students are making appointments all week to try out the simulators, which clearly shows the dangers of distracted driving.
