Creating change is sometimes like yelling at an earthquake to stop shaking. The world, however, has witnessed measurable change brought about by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a mentor of the ages. January 20, Americans honor the life and work of MLK by sharing and giving. This year, as in past years, the New Bedford chapter of Gifts To Give, a service group that re-gifts tangible, everyday home items plus caring, to area families who are less fortunate. A lot of the  work is done by young people, who understand that giving something they own to someone who needs it is one of the greatest virtues. On MLK's National Day of Service, many students from the South Coast will commemorate this day of service with many educational and civic events. What a wonderful way to honor the memory of Dr. King than to practice the words and actions of this great American and agent of change.
