Mitchell’s Inaugural Address Highlights Need For School Reform

Mayor Jon Mitchell has begun his second term in office with an Inaugural Address that contained repeated references about the need for change in New Bedford Schools.

Speaking Monday night at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, the Mayor insisted that school reform is absolutely necessary…..

The mayor’s 19 minute address including a rundown of the city’s ongoing projects:   construction of the Marine Commerce Terminal in the South End, job creation throughout the city, and improvements Downtown like Route 18, and the park at Custom House Square.

Mitchell also outlined a goal for the cleanup of New Bedford Harbor…..

Mitchell was sworn in by 101-year old retired Federal Judge and New Bedford native, George Leighton.
