Mitchell Wins Re-Election

New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell has won re-election to a third term on Tuesday, defeating challenger Maria Giesta by more than two-thousand votes.  The Mayor picked up nearly 62% of the vote.

During the campaign Mitchell outlined his administration's accomplishment,s from job creation to the Harbor Walk on the Hurricane Barrier.

Giesta ran a spirited campaign especially at the start, saying she would fire the Police Chief and replace the Superintendent  if she was elected Mayor.

Unofficial totals had Mayor Mitchell picking up 7,562 votes, and Giesta  4,646
