Mitchell On WBSM: School Cuts Unpleasant, But Need To Be Done

During his weekly radio program on WBSM, Mayor Jon Mitchell offered some thoughts on the School Budget crisis. 

The School Committee was told this week, it must eliminate 250 positions in next year's school budget, including more than 100 teaching positions.

Mitchell believes the cuts, in the long run, will force the School Dept. to refocus on spending money where its needed most,  in the classroom. 

A public hearing on the fiscal 2014 School Budget is scheduled for Thursday at 7 at Keith Middle School.
