Mitchell Makes Emergency Appointments Of Two Dept. Heads

Mayor Jon Mitchell is making emergency appointments to fill two vacant department head positions.
Mayor Mitchell has named Dagny Ashley as Tourism Director and Mary Rapoza as Director of Parks and Recreation.
The names of both candidates were submitted to the City Council six weeks ago, but no action is scheduled till later this month.
The Mayor says he wants the department heads in place so they can begin work now. During an appearance this week on WBSM, the Mayor attempted to put the Council’s lack of action into context…..

The Mayor says extended delays in approving appointments are hurting the city.
He says another qualified candidate for the tourism job withdrew her name when another opportunity presented itself while she was waiting for confirmation.
