New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell says the City stands in support of KG Urban Enterprise's request for a Phase One application deadline extension.

The deadline to submit a formal application for a casino license in Southeastern Massachusetts was Monday night, but the City and KG Urban had failed to reach an agreement by then.

Speaking on his weekly radio program, Mitchell says the developer still has some wrinkles to iron out.

Developers proposing a casino in Somerset have also requested a deadline extension. A proposed Brockton casino already has an agreement between the city and the developers.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will consider both extension requests at their Thursday meeting.
