Mitchell Attends Mayor’s Conference, Lobbies For Gun Control

Mayor Jon Mitchell is attending the U-S Conference of Mayors in Washington this week, but he took some time on Thursday to visit Capitol Hill. Mitchell was lobbying in support of President Obama’s bill to ban assault weapons, and to mandate universial background checks for those buying guns.

Mitchell says he expects unanimous support from the Mass. delegation for the President’s gun control bills. Also on Thursday, the Mayor addressed the conference on New Bedford’s future opportunities with offshore wind development.
