Empowering women to overcome stereotypes and break barriers, Theresa Vail, 22, Miss Kansas, revealed two tattoos during the swimsuit portion of the Miss America competition in Atlantic City, NJ.

Having no regrets, whatsoever, Ms. Vail explained that the tattoo of the SERENITY PRAYER on her right side signified the struggles of bullying she endured and on her left shoulder is the military Dental Corps insignia, as a proud member of the Kansas Army National Guard's Medical Detachment.

This is the first time ever in the history of the Miss America pageant that a contestant has appeared with visible tattoos.
