The interim Superintendent of New Bedford Schools is heading back to retirement.

Former Voke Tech administrator Mike Shea held down the post for 14 months, dealing with budget problems, making key hires, and fending off a threatened takeover of the school system by the state.

Shea tells WBSM News, he never considered himself a place-holder for the next superintendent.....

The new Superintendent, Pia Durkin will take over on July 1.

Shea says he beleives Durkin will inherit a school system that's ready to move forward with people that want to make a difference.
