Vermont State Police say a 21-year-old man has died after the car he was driving crashed into a telephone pole in the town of Lyndon.

Police believe speed appears to be a factor in the crash, which happened shortly before 2 a.m. Monday. It was raining at the time.

The driver, found dead at the scene, was identified as Alex Paduch of Middleborough, Massachusetts. He was the only person in the car.

The crash is still under investigation.

According to Paduch's Facebook profile, he was a student at Lyndon State College studying broadcast Journalism. His profile also states he was an evening news intern at WCVB-TV in Boston.
