Reverend Russ Chamberlain says fundraising efforts for Mercy Meals and More have paid off during the past month.

The free breakfast program was in danger of closing it's doors for some time after a lull in donations deflated the non-profit's account to just several hundred dollars.

Reverend Russ tells WBSM's "Mid-Day Live" that's changed in the past four weeks.

The program also received a $5,000 grant from a Lutheran foundation in Wisconsin, as well as $4,000 from another anonymous donor. Several thousand dollars more were collected at various events including, 50's Night, the Whaling City Festival, and the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament.

More fundraising activities, including a skydiving event, are being planned.
