Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren has won the endorsement of Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. Menino, also a Democrat, made the endorsement Friday afternoon at a Warren rally in the city's Roslindale neighborhood. Menino said he held off making a decision until now because he wanted to take time to get to know Warren and her positions better. Menino said after getting to know her, Warren has his vote and his help as the mayor of the state's largest city.

Warren is trying to oust incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, who has also courted the backing of Democratic officials. Menino's predecessor in the mayor's office, Democrat Ray Flynn, has endorsed Brown. Menino said he likes Brown, but said Brown was ``wishy washy'' on jobs, housing protection and other issues.
