The high snow totals we received this winter caused major headaches for many South Coast residents.

Now that warmer temperatures are here, the snow is beginning to melt causing some to be concerned about the potential for flooding.

Ron Labelle, the Commissioner for New Bedford's Department of Public Infrastructure says he's more worried about a massive rainstorm saying he doesn't think melting snow will cause any major problems.

Labelle also says they have taken preventive measures such as having crews go around the city cleaning and clearing catch basins in low lying areas.

He is advising homeowners to routinely check their basements for any issues that could result from melting snow and ice.
