Researchers claim a half-hour of meditation can be just as effective as popping a pill for anxiety, pain and stress.

A team at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore studied previously-published research involving 3500 people in 47 clinical trials. They found the reduction in depression levels from psychological therapies was the same as could be expected from using anti-depressants but without "the associated toxicities."

The report was published in "JAMA Internal Medicine."
