Mayor Recommends Stieb For Port Director

Mayor Jon Mitchell is recommending the appointment of Jeffrey Stieb as the new Director of the New Bedford Harbor Development Commission.

The Mayor had named a committee to help with the search. The Mayor beleives Stieb will make an excellent director for the Port of New Bedford.

Stieb is a retired Coast Guard Officer, who's career included stints in the First District Office in Boston and the Marine Safety Office in Providence. Since 2003, Stieb has served as the Maritime Counsel for the Mass. Port Authority. The Harbor Development Commission will take up the Mayor's recommendation on September 6.
