It looks like Siemens Energy will have a much bigger role in saving New Bedford some money beyond L-E-D streetlights.

The city is looking to enter into an energy management services agreement with the company, which would hold Siemens to whatever energy savings they guarantee.

Chief Financial Officer Ari Sky explains....

Sky says the agreement will last for ten years. During that time, Siemens will embark on multiple energy-saving projects throughout the city, including replacing lighting and hvac equipment in schools and other city-owned buildings.

The New Bedford City Council must approve the agreement. The agreement is scheduled to be discussed during Thursday night's Council meeting.
