The Port of New Bedford and other East Coast ports have collaborated on a study that makes a case for transporting more freight over the water, rather than by truck on Interstate 95. 

The study focuses on specific costs, schedules and other requirements that would make a marine highway service viable. 

Mayor Jon Mitchell says the study provides New Bedford with a roadmap for making improvements to the waterfront, so the port can maximize its potential......

Along with government help, the Mayor says the Port of Mew Bedford will continue to engage private industry to help create a viable Marine Highway operation.
