During his final storm briefing on Tuesday, Mayor Jon Mitchell assessed the impact Hurricane Sandy had on Greater New Bedford this way.

Mitchell says the most serious flooding problem happened Monday night on Padanarum Avenue.  The Mayor praised the citizens of New Bedford and city employees for their response to "Sandy."  Larry Worden, Commissioner of Parks and Public Places says six city buildings sustained some damage during the storm.

D-P-I Commissioner Ron Labelle says both the water treatement plant in Lakeville and the secondary wastewater plant at Fort Rodman were fully operational during the storm,  although both facilities had to switch to standby power for a time.
