Mayor Mitchell Issues Statement On Refugees

New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell sent a statement to WBSM's Brian Thomas regarding Syrian refugees.

“Our country has always served as a place of refuge for people facing threats in their homelands.  It’s one of our nation’s most fundamental ideals.  That’s why it is important, in the case of Syrian refugees, that the federal government puts in place security policies that will allow America to honor its values while protecting the public.  I think that kind of approach is the core sentiment expressed by Governor Baker yesterday.  I think we can all agree it is important the federal government gets this policy right. ”
