Mayor Jon Mitchell says it would be irresponsible if Massachusetts voters decided to repeal the state's 2011 casino gaming law.

The Supreme Judicial Court this week ruled Bay State voters could have their say with a ballot question on November 4.

Speaking on his weekly radio program, Mitchell says he's against the notion of repealing the law.

Mitchell says with gambling legal in 39 states, it would be unwise for Massachusetts to back down from the industry.

As for New Bedford, Mitchell says he continues to welcome any and all serious casino developers looking to do business in the Whaling City.
