Mayor Jon Mitchell is steaming that the City Council has again tabled his proposed "Problem Property Ordinance."

Mitchell says he first offered the plan two years ago, and has met repeatedly with representatives of the Council to iron out differences.

Speaking on Thursday's Mid-Day Magazine, the Mayor admitted he was frustrated with what he called, the Council's nit-picking....

The plan would allow the city to fine landlords if police respond to their properties eight times or more for criminal complaints in a calender year.

Mitchell says the proposal is an attempt to deal with absentee landlords who collect rents, but don't care about the quality of life in that neighborhood.
