Mayor Jon Mitchell is looking to what the next fiscal year has in store for improvements in the city through the Capital Improvement Program.

The plan was put into effect for Fiscal Year 2014, with the City bonding for $5.8 million which has funded projects that continue to be carried out like the face-lift of City Hall, the rehabilitation of Fort Rodman, and improvements at the Casa De Saudade Library.

Mitchell says with the City's A1 bond rating, it's an opportune time to invest in the future.

Mitchell is proposing another $5.9 million in bonding for preservation projects for public safety buildings, the school department, public use, and governmental facilities. The City Council must approve the bonding before the City can borrow the funds and allocate them to those projects.
