It was brief and under the cover of some heavy fog, but the Mayflower II stopped by New Bedford Harbor Tuesday night on her way back to Plymouth.

The tugboat Jaguar towed the vessel to dock at State Pier just before 7:00 p.m.

The replica of the ship that brought the Pilgrims across the Atlantic underwent her first phase of restorations at Mystic Seaport as part of a five year, $8 million project to restore the ship in time for the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims' voyage in 2020.

The Mayflower II will arrive in Plymouth Wednesday afternoon, where it will stay until after the Thanksgiving season.

It will return to the Mystic Shipyard after that to undergo further repairs.
