MasterCard is extending its zero liability policy in the U.S. to include all PIN-based and ATM transactions.  Until now, MasterCard's zero liability did not apply if a customer's personal identification number was used for a transaction.

Cards issued in the United States will also carry a new "Identity Theft Resolution" number to help customers in cases of fraud.

Today's announcement beats Visa to the punch with its zero liability policy now extending to all PIN-based and ATM transactions.
