MassDOT Places Real-Time Traffic Signs Along Route 140

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has rolled out real-time traffic signs along Route 140 in Taunton that they plan to expand statewide by the end of 2017.

MassDOT spokeswoman Jacquelyn Goddard tells The Boston Globe that the road signs installed Monday accurately tell drivers how long it will take for them to get to a specific location.

Transportation officials say they plan on placing 137 signs that feature ``Go-Time'' technology to cover more than 700 miles of highway across Massachusetts. Goddard says Monday was the launch of the program.

Similar signs have been situated along roads in Cape Cod since April 2014. Temporary Go-Time signs are currently in place on parts of Interstate 90, Interstate 93, and state Route 140 to U.S. Route 6.
