Massachusetts Welfare Hotel Numbers Surge

Hundreds of Massachusetts families are back in welfare hotels after getting bumped from a two-year transitional housing program. Fifty-four-hundred households will eventually be peeled off the program called "HomeBase," which will end for all recipients next June. More than two-thousand families statewide are currently being put up in hotels, costing taxpayers more than a million dollars a week.
