Revenue Commissioner Amy Pitter announced Monday that the state collected nearly $2.1 billion last month _ about $53 million or 2.5 percent below what the state took in during the previous December. That's $76 million below the estimate for the month, based on the 2014 fiscal year revenue projection of nearly $22.8 billion.Pitter said strong performance in income tax cash estimated payments and slightly better than expected collections in several other tax categories partially offset mostly weak performance in withholding collections in December.
