State Police are continuing their relentless crackdown on dangerous driving on Southcoast highways. This past weekend marks the fifth consecutive weekend State Police have ramped up patrols on Routes 24 and 195 in the Southeastern sector of the state.

Troopers arrested ten drunk drivers over the weekend, and also made eight non-OUI arrests, including one person driving a stolen 2011 Cadillac Deville. Troopers also issued 12 criminal summons and 283 citations for motor vehicle offenses.

In total, the "Patrol Surge" has netted 45 drunk drivers. Troopers have also made 42 other arrests, issued 36 criminal summons, and have written 1,377 citations. The "Patrol Surge" will continue until the end of September.
