Mass DEP Holds 3rd Meeting on Cecil Smith Landfill

The Massachusetts Department of Enviromental Protection held its third public informnation meeting on a proposal to cap the Cecil Smith Landfill in Dartmouth.

The current proposal is only conceptual and still under review by the Mass. DEP.

Southeast Regional Director Philip Weinberg says the department is taking the public opinion into consideration.

The Mass. DEP expects that the proposal for capping the landfill will be modified to mitigate the project's impacts.

Another meeting will be scheduled later this year to respond to public comments.
