A Massachusetts prison guard facing heroin trafficking charges has been held on $20,000 bail after pleading not guilty.

Prosecutors at the arraignment Wednesday of 40-year-old Stephen Lebreux, of Swansea, said he sold heroin to an undercover state police trooper in Fall River on several occasions, at least once when he was in uniform.  Prosecutors say the MCI-Bridgewater employee also showed his badge to the undercover trooper.

Lebreux will be subject to GPS monitoring if he posts bail.

Lebreux's attorney says his client denies the allegations and is ``completely devastated.'' He asked that his client be released on personal recognizance because of his close ties to the community.

The state Department of Correction says Lebreux will be suspended pending the outcome of his case.  (Associated Press)
