A group of Massachusetts mayors and town executives are questioning a study released last week by anti-casino activists that claimed casinos would reduce city and town profits from the state lottery.

Everett Mayor Carlo DeMaria, Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno and Plainville Town Administrator Joseph Fernandes, whose communities host the three sites licensed for gambling facilities, are among those who denounced the study by the Repeal the Casino Deal campaign.

The repeal group is supporting a November ballot question to strike down the state's 2011 casino law.

The mayors and administrators on Tuesday pointed to other studies suggesting that the revenue losses would not nearly be as severe as that predicted by anti-casino activists.
