This is Martin Richard. You may not have known him, but you will remember him forever. Martin was waiting at the finish line to greet his father, who was running in the 117th Boston marathon on Monday. He was right there when the explosions happened, and was one of the few lives claimed immediately from that attack. He was only 8-years-old.

ABC news shared this photo, and shared a statement that Martin's family has made in regards to the incident, and how they are coping:

My dear son Martin has died from injuries sustained in the attack on Boston. My wife and daughter are both recovering from serious injuries. We thank our family and friends, those we know and those we have never met, for their thoughts and prayers. I ask that you continue to pray for my family as we remember Martin. We also ask for your patience and for privacy as we work to simultaneously grieve and recover. Thank you.

It is with a very heavy heart that we bring this story to you. Martin's light has been extinguished far too early. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
