Congressman Ed Markey is focusing on bringing 21st century jobs and markets into Massachusetts.

Markey stopped in New Bedford Friday evening, as he heads to the U.S. Senate primary as one of two democratic candidates.

Markey says several projects will bring New Bedford up to speed in 2013.

Markey says he will also work to defend the fishing industry if elected. Markey adds he wants to uphold "Obamacare", and work towards a nation-wide ban on assault weapons.

The statewide primary for the U.S. Senate race is this coming Tuesday, April 30.
