Marion Man Who Shot at Car with Child Inside Sentenced
BROCKTON - A Marion man is sentenced after pleading guilty to shooting at a car with a five-year-old child inside.
The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office says Joseph Singleton III pleaded guilty in Brockton Superior Court on Monday to charges of attempted assault and battery with a firearm, assault with a dangerous weapon, reckless endangerment of a child, assault and battery on a household member, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and witness intimidation.
Singleton was sentenced to serve two-and-a-half years with 18 months to serve and the balance suspended for three years.
On September 18, Singleton fired several gunshots at the car in front of him as he was traveling west on Route 6 in Marion. The car he was shooting at contained a female family member and a five-year-old child. Neither one was injured, but bullet holes were found in the trunk of the car.
Singleton was apprehended after crashing his vehicle as police pursued him.
