MARION - A 64-year-old Marion man was flown to Rhode Island Hospital on Monday after a tree limb reportedly fell on him.

Marion Police say they responded to North Drive in Marion at around 11:54 a.m. on Monday to a report of a man who was found on the ground unconscious and breathing.

Upon arrival, Marion Police, Fire, and EMS personnel discovered that the man had been cutting down a large pine tree before he was found on the ground, pinned by a large tree limb. The man, whose identity is not being released at this time, suffered traumatic injuries, according to Marion Police.

Med Flight was requested. The Med Flight helicopter landed on the Little Marion Golf Couse and the man was flown to Rhode Island Hospital.

The accident is under investigation by the Marion Police Department, Massachusetts State Police Detective Division, and the Office of Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
