Recreational marijuana will become legal in Massachusetts after voters approved Ballot Question 4 on Tuesday.

Now that voters have approved question 4 the State Treasurer will be appointing a Cannabis Control Commission to impose regulations on the recreational marijuana industry.

There have also been calls to have the Legislature become more involved in the regulatory process.

However, Jim Borghesani, Communications Director of the Yes On 4 Campaign, told WBSM's Brian Thomas that when the Commission takes office they should be allowed to do their job without interference.

"The Legislature, by the way, doesn't regulate many industries, regulators do," said Borghesani "the banking industry, the construction industry, many industries and they don't look to legislators to come up with every little regulation, that's the job of regulators."

Borghesani also said that commission members should look to other states, such as Colorado, which have already legalized recreational marijuana to learn what their best practices are.

The law will begin to take effect on Dec. 15 when the possession limits are implemented, Commission members will be appointed in March.
