A traffic stop leads to an arrest and gun charges for a New Bedford man.
Detective Captain Steven Vicente says that two officers stopped a car with an invalid inspection sticker just before 1 a.m . Friday near Elm Street and North Sixth Street.
One of the passengers, Jason Garcia, had a warrant out for his arrest on charges of Destruction of propery and OUI.
He was taken into custody without incident.
During a search of the vehicle officers found a Smith and Wesson 38 caliber revolver that was reported stolen from a convenience store in Waterville, Maine fiver years ago.
In addition to the warrants, Garcia was also charged with Receiving stolen property and Unlawfully carrying a firearm.
He was arraigned Friday in New Bedford District Court.
