WAREHAM — A Wareham man who was wanted in connection to a stabbing in the town has turned himself in to authorities.

Wareham Police say Christian Fernandes, 30, turned himself in to Wareham District Court on Tuesday to face a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Fernandes was ordered held on $10,000 bail and had his bail revoked for outstanding charges in Barnstable County.

The new charges stem from a stabbing incident on July 19. On that day, police were made aware of a potential stabbing victim that had arrived at Tobey Hospital in Wareham with slash wounds to his face. The victim had also been brutally kicked.

Investigation of the stabbing revealed that the attack took place in the Oakdale section of the town, near Frank's Way. Police say the attack was not random.

Wareham Police are still seeking two men in connection to the attack; Thomas Tavares, 28, and Andrew Booker, 29.

In a statement, Acting Police Chief John Walcek said, "if these two do not turn themselves in, it will only be a matter of time before they are captured."
