NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police Detectives are investigating a shooting in the city's North End Monday afternoon.

Police responded to a report of a shooting that occurred at 50 Tallman Street at 2:52 p.m. There, they found a 60-year-old male victim who had been shot. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries that appeared to be serious. Scanner reports indicated the victim was shot in the neck.

Police say the man was not engaged with any of the activity that led to the shooting.

His condition is unknown at this time and police say they will update his condition when more information becomes available.

Police say the scene remains very active as detectives continue to collect evidence. They say no further information will be released at this time.
