Man Struck And Killed By Truck In Norton

One person was killed after they were struck by a truck Wednesday afternoon.

Norton Police say that around 1 p.m. officers and crews from the Fire Department were called to Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture at 308 E. Main St. over reports that a man had been struck by a vehicle in the parking lot.

The employee, identified as 63-year-old Michael Hassett of Foxboro, was found by first responders in the rear parking lot of the building.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say it was determined that Hassett was struck by a truck owned by NEHDS, a subcontractor who delivers furniture for Bernie & Phyl’s.

The incident is currently being investigated by Norton Police, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office and Massachusetts State Police personell assigned to the District Attorney’s Office.
