Man Steals $700 Left at New Bedford Convenience Store

A New Bedford woman is out $700 after leaving an envelope containing the cash on a store counter.

Police say the woman accidentally left the envelope on the counter of the Quick Stop Convenience Store on Acushnet Ave Friday morning. When she returned to the store, the money was gone.

Surveillance video shows a man walked into the store shortly after the woman had left, and stuffed the envelope into his pocket when the clerk wasn't looking.

He is described as a heavy-set male in his 50s, wearing a green sweatshirt at the time. He's said to be a regular customer at the store.
